Grace Jones of Britain, popular as ‘Amazing Grace’ to her well wishers, reached the landmark age of 112 after the death of Olive Evelyn Boar, from Suffolk, in August at the age of 113.
Britain’s oldest personality, the supercentenarian has celebrated her 112th birthday where she reveals the secret to her long life is a dram of whisky every day for the last six decades.
The latest record holder however puts her longevity is down to a nightcap of Famous Grouse single malt whisky every evening for the last 62 years.
Liverpudlian by birth, Mrs Jones was born on September 16, 1906 - only five years after the death of Queen Victoria. She has survived both world wars and lived through 26 prime ministers of Britain.
The mother-of-one, Mrs Jones lives in Broadway, Worcs, said, “I never miss my night cap. All I have is the whisky at night. I started having a nightly tot of it when I turned 50 so I have been having it every night for the last 60 years and I certainly have no intention of stopping it till my last breath. My doctor advised, 'keep up with the whisky Grace, it's good for your heart”.
“I still feel the equivalent as I did when I was 60. The best recall of my life was when I married Leonard. He was a true gentleman, the son of a parson. We were always in concert and we loved one another”, she added.
Her daughter Deirdre McCarthy who is 80-years-old said, “My mother is amazing. She’s still very particular over her manifestation and insists on always looking her best. Once she married my father she very much became a lady of leisure. She enjoys meeting people and still reads a little and watches television. She is stunning, gorgeous and smart. In fact, she is alert and still with it.”
So folks don’t mislead with effects of Alcohol. Everything is good for our health if we are taking it in a marginal quantity.
